Marle Thomson is an Amsterdam-based storyteller and musician whose voice and songs encapsulate a blend of strength and vulnerability, often described by the Portuguese term "saudade," which evokes a sense of longing and melancholy tempered by hope and the potential for new beginnings.
Thomson emerged on the music scene in 2016 with captivating performances and her critically acclaimed EP "The Canopy." This was followed in 2017 by her debut album "The Canopy - Acoustic," featuring the self-produced single "Satellites," which garnered attention from international music blogs such as Music Week, Guestlist, and Clash Magazine. Her rise included radio and TV appearances, a tour across the Netherlands, and performances in London, where she also engaged in songwriting.
She has collaborated with several fashion designers during Amsterdam Fashion Week, composing music for Anbasja Blanken's runway show. Thomson also opened for Ruben Hein's club tour and recorded a duet with Typhoon, contributing vocal arrangements for his tracks and for Gerson Main, all recorded in her home studio.
Named "Sound of 2017: power woman you shouldn't miss" by ELLE Magazine, Marle Thomson continued her musical journey with releases like "Shapes" (2020) in collaboration with Marnix Dorrestein and "Trip to the Moon" (2022). During the COVID-19 pandemic, she produced a series of "stay-at-home" covers, including the single "What the World Needs Now" (2020).
Since 2021, Thomson has regularly collaborated with Anthony Lazaro (Italy), co-producing and recording several songs and vocal arrangements from her Amsterdam home studio. Influenced by indie folk pop, jazz, and R&B, she has also developed her skills as a songwriter and producer.
In addition to her artistic endeavors, Marle Thomson is a vocal coach at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where she also teaches songwriting and artist development.
